| 2 teams available |

Tuesday, September 9, 2008 2:19 PM - After the defection of Captain_Stealth and Trizzak to Nashville and Toronto, the HWL now finds itself with two available teams.
St.Louis is a very young up-and-comer. After years of toiling in the basement of the League, the Blues have gathered a solid group of young guns. Can you guide this team to the playoffs without destroying the core of young players?
Calgary is an HWL heavyweight and Stanley Cup champions in 2009. It has a great mix of young and experienced players and are perhaps just 1 or 2 star players away from being the League's top dog again. Can you make this team repeat without mortgaging the future?
If you are up to the challenge, want to prove your mettle as an NHL GM and can spend enough hours weekly to stay up-to-date, then apply to be a GM. Join in on the fun with a whole bunch of other crazy, dysfunctional, competitive and friendly GMs! |
| New teams, old GMs |
| Major shake-up in the HWL lately, has 3 teams found new GMs... but they're all old faces. Washington is now managed by HWL founder bombTHEice. Successful Calgary GM Trizzak has now taken upon the challenge of returning Toronto to decency and disgruntled St-Louis GM Captain_Stealth has jumped ship to manage Nashville. |
10.07.2008 - 7th HWL Season
So, has it
been awhile since this was updated?
Trizzak's Flames took home the cup in season
five, while Stealth's Canucks went all the
way in season 6. Many GMs have come
and gone in the last couple seasons, while
others have simply changed teams. Tony
took over as Commish last season after Alex
stepped down. Controversy has
continued to flourish in the league, it
wouldn't be the same without it. With
so many competitive GMs, tempers will always
flare up now and then. A weak 2010
draft has some wondering whether the 2011
draft class will be markedly better or will
continue a downward trend. Can GMs
adapt to their new teams? Will GMs
kiss and make up? Can David bring the
Canucks their third HWL Cup with as many
GMs? There are answers to all the
questions. I, however, do not know
what they are. Yet.
27.06.2007 - 5th HWL
SEASON
As the league
begins its 5th season, let's first look back
on our 4th year. Rookie GM CaliHabsFan
took his Tampa Bay club on a great ride to
the finals. In the end, however,
Commish Alexstream's Ducks proved too
powerful, winning the Cup in seven games.
As we look to this new season, the league
welcomes three new GMs: Icodato in
Atlanta, reggievenne in Montreal, and
TorontoGM in, well, Toronto. The
league has lost David B, Fanpuck33, and
revvvrob from the Commish Team, but
things are looking up in Alex's
administration, as a new draft program
promises to reduce the work involved in
creating the draft class, thus allowing the
players to be input much earlier. Will
the Ducks repeat? Will the mighty
southeast rise to the top once again?
Only season five will tell us...
29.11.2006 - 4th HWL
SEASON
The league's
third season is now a thing of the past,
with the Carolina Hurricanes staging
a remarkable comeback in the Stanely Cup
Finals, stunning the Columbus Blue Jackets,
who led the series three games to one.
As we move on to our 4th season, we have
some new faces and some old faces in new
cities. CaliHabsFan takes over in
Tampa Bay, while Macaskill moves on to the
New York Rangers. Trizzak has taken
over in Calgary. Mils makes the move
from Toronto to Chicago while
Captain_Stealth heads from Minnesota to
Vancouver. Minnesota and Toronto hope
to find new GMs soon. The HWL Commish
team has welcomed Tex into their ranks, to
provide another voice of wisdom. Good
luck to everyone in season four and may the
best GM drink from the Cup!
08.08.2006 - ALL-STAR BREAK OUTLOOK
As HWL reaches the All-Star break in its third season, the Florida Panthers own the league's best record, followed closely by Anaheim and Montreal. Also in the hunt for the President's Trophy are division rivals Chicago and Columbus, the former overcoming the loss of their GM in the offseason. Out East, Carolina and Washington are in position to make their debut appearances in the HWL playoffs. In the West, San Jose fans have recovered from last seasons Shark tanking are attempting to get the 4 seed in the conference. The league is also proud to announce that all teams in the league currently have a GM, though some appear to be on the hot seat.
Unknown.2006 - Habsworld League’s 2nd season has come and gone.
With it, many great memories. Dave’s
Senators would capture the 2nd ever HWL Cup, after defeating Dlbalr’s Coyotes in an exciting seven game series. The 2006 entry draft also took place, from Vancouver. Hard-hitting defensemen Erik Johnson was chosen first overall by the St Louis Blues, followed by Staal and Towes who went in order to Carolina. To cap off the 2006 season, was a somewhat quiet but nevertheless exciting off season. Several big trades occurred in this period of time, including Forsberg moving to Bean-Town. The pre-season has now begun, and all thirty franchises are gearing up for HWL’s 3rd season. Who will be victorious? Only time will tell.
10.12.2005
- 2nd HWL Season
The 2005/06 season is under way and the first games already showed us that anything can happen. There aren't any clear favourites this year, which should provide us with an exciting season and lots of great games.
One team is currently open as Vancouver Canucks GM puck 7x (1st HWL Champion) recently resigned from his job due to time problems.
16.10.2005 - Vancouver Canucks 1st HWL Champion
Congratulations to GM puck7x, who guided his
Vancouver Canucks to the 1st ever HWL Stanley Cup!
Furthermore, I want to thank all the GM's for a great first season and hopefully the 2nd will be even better.
Special thanks to ap79, Macaskill, alexstream, Guy!, sakiqc, kerplunk, David B and all the other guys who provided us with quality help and free time.
